06/08/009

Today is a scheduled REST Day.

However, I felt like doing some rowing. The plan was to just get 7 rounds of 500 meters in, but at a medium pace (average time of 2:15 to 2:20 or so). That didn't last too long - I upped the pace in the 2nd round, and I averaged 2:05 over 7 rounds. When I did this as a MetCon routine 2 weeks ago I averaged 1:55 over 7 rounds. Amazing what a difference 10 seconds makes!!!

  1. 1:55, that's smokin. I think I can handle 2:15 to 2:20 for an extended period of time, but cracking 2:00 on an interval basis is rather uncomfortable.

The club trainer is telling me to keep my heels down on the pedal at all times, which will limit the range of motion forward, but will allow for greater leg power on the move. I don't have great hip and leg flexibility, so this is uncomfortable for me, but I'm trying to make it work.

  2. Jim, when I did 7 rounds, it broke down like this:
    R1: 1:44
    R2: 1:48
    R3: 1:48
    R4: 1:52
    R5: 1:57
    R6: 1:58
    R7: 159.8
